Copper collector gaskets are the answer to help prevent persistent leakage at the header collector.

Unlike composition fiber or combination fiber and metal gaskets, copper expands and contracts with the temperature of your cylinder heads. Since copper is soft, it compresses to form a better seal to begin with, and it won't burn out! Copper gaskets have been used in aviation applications for years, and now they're available for automotive use with your Sanderson headers.

Our collector gaskets are manufactured from 0.062" thick dead soft copper, and can be annealed to return them to their original thickness. In other words, "They Are The Last Gaskets You Will Ever Need To Buy!"

TECH TIP :

Header collector gasket sealing will only be as good as how well you have secured the rest of your exhaust system behind your headers. If your exhaust pipes and mufflers are swaying back and forth with every motion of your vehicle you are going to strain the sealing accuracy of your collector gaskets and your header flanges. Please be certain to use proper hangers that secure your exhaust piping which will provide you with years of trouble-free, accurate sealing.

I have a set of sandersons with a 3 inch collector, just wondering if the bolt pattern is all the same on these collectors? I ordered gaskets for a 3 inch collector and they didn't line up. How is the bolt pattern measured center to center or outside to outside? Can you give me a part number to your gasket that will fit? t
    Thank you

Our collectors (and collector gaskets) are industry standard 3-bolt designs. Meaning, our and other brand headers that use standard 3-bolt collector flanges are all compatible with our gaskets and other brand gaskets. Please review the image graphic in the product details:

Installed gt40p headers. What size of a collector does it use and does it need copper gaskets to keep it from leaking.

The size of the collector gasket is determined by the size of the collector on the header (look at the specs ob the header). Our copper gaskets are a premium sealing option, but other gaskets still work well when installed properly, whether they are composite, graphite, or just a bead of silicone. The copper offers the best longevity.

I've had consistent problems with my Sanderson Headers leaking at the collector union. I've tried after market cooper gaskets and utilized lock washers and then lock nuts with no washers. When I can get them to seal. the seal only lasts a few thousand miles and then they leak again. Are your copper gaskets any different than aftermarket ones? If I spend the dough to get new Sanderson Copper Gaskets and collector nuts and bolts, will these work? What should they be torqued to? Will they stay sealed or will I need to re-tighten or replace as often as I do now?

Collector gaskets should not leak if,
    1) The collector bolts have not been over-tightened, causing the collector rings to buckle, creating a wave in the clamping surface.
    2) The under chassis exhaust piping is mounted securely to prevent movement that could affect the sealing connection at the header collector.

Our copper collector gaskets are 0.062" thick and seal perfectly, and indefinitely, when installed correctly.

Hello! On your copper collector gaskets, I noticed they have a taper (or flange?) around the diameter opening........does it make any difference if this flange goes into the opening of the headers, or the tailpipe side????? Thank You! Kris

No, it is simply a manufacturing effect from the water jet that cut them. It does not matter which direction they are installed.
