The BB8 header is designed to fit big block engines in 1967-87 Chevy pickups, and 1967-1991 Suburban. Clears all stock steering and chassis components. If you are changing the location of the motor in chassis, be sure to check the dimensions listed below to make sure the BB8 header will still fit.

    I am building a 1984 C10 with the Chevy 572 tall block. 2 1/8" D port. Do you have something that is specific to this application? If not will the BB8 work if I use the BB mounts?

    Spark plug angle on big block Chevy applications is all the same. There isn't a straight vs angle plug on these engines. Plug angle is a concern on small block Chevy applications.

    The part number suffix designates the header finish.
    -P (plain steel, unfinished)
    -SEC (silver ceramic coating)
    -BEC (black satin ceramic coating)

    Working on my 76 Chevy C10 one of the header won’t fit, the passenger side hit the motor mount bracket and won’t let it bolt on order part number BB8

    If the BB8 does not fit this application, the problem is almost always related to the engine mounts and stands. If this truck was an original small block, it is important to also use big block engine stands and mounts to ensure the engine is located properly.

DIMENSIONS:

When sitting in driver's seat and engine in front of you, the LEFT header would be the Driver's Side on LH drive vehicles; coincidently, means the RIGHT header is on the passenger side. See the detail image above left that describes engine sides.

Was your Chevrolet or GMC truck originally equipped with a small block or six-cylinder engine? If yes, converting to a big block Chevy engine typically requires changing out the engine mounts and perches to big block compatible components. This ensures the proper fit of aftermarket exhaust headers and other components.

The BB8 header set was designed and built on using original big block Chevy trucks as a guide. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your truck is properly configured for this swap. Proper mount and perch kits include:

  • Classic Performance Products part number 6372MP-BM
  • LMC Truck part number 34-0304 (perches) and 34-0381 (polyurethane mounts)

Here are some images showing the change.

This image shows the BB8 header set installed on a 1967 Chevy truck that does not have the correct engine mounts and perches. Note how close the header sits next to the perch and frame rail. Any minor variation and the header could contact the vehicle chassis.

Here are two images showing the BB8 header set installed on an application using the proper perches and mounts. Note that a small section of the frame has been removed. These images were taken during a test-fit to create this article, prior to cleaning up the modifications to the frame rail. The installation now has plenty of space between the header and the frame rail, but more importantly, the engine is now positioned in the proper location.

Limited 5 Year General Warranty

Sanderson Street Rod Headers strives to supply our customers with the highest quality parts and service available in the street rod industry. In keeping with this, we warrant and will repair or replace, at our option after inspection in our facility, any of our products which are found by us to have failed due to defects in either material or workmanship.  This warranty is activated by the return of the Warranty Card enclosed with every pair of headers, and is effective for FIVE YEARS * from the date of purchase as indicated on the original invoice.

This Warranty does not cover products that fail due to improper motor tuning, alteration, disassembly, or damage caused by racing, misuse, neglect, abuse, improper installation and/or accident, or when used on applications for which they were not designed or approved. * Extremely compact header designs which locate the collector in close proximity to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason, part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year Warranty period only. All other Warranty conditions apply.
