The QP1000 cast iron "Quiet Performer" header overcomes limitations of tube-style headers in both fit and in its ability to produce gains in both low end torque and high end horsepower. The QP1000 provides excellent steering clearance, even for Tri-5 vehicles using the Saginaw 605.

Our Cast Series header incorporates individual runners to separate exhaust pulses, with cast anti-reversion baffling to prevent spent gasses from being drawn back into the cylinder during valve timing overlap, when both intake and exhaust valves are open. Scavenging of the cylinders is significantly improved by our D-Shaped technology, first used by GM on their HO (High Output) cylinder heads. The result is exhaust headers that create more torque and power at every RPM range.

There are other benefits to our Cast Series header. Because they are more compact than tubular headers, they provide more clearance for steering, accessories, and other chassis and engine components. They weigh less than factory exhaust, and they look a whole lot better! This is the most popular header for small block 55-57 Chevy applications!

NOTE: Does not fit Vortec cylinder heads.

Comes with all hardware necessary for installation.

A fellow car guy recommended your qp1200 headers for my 1957 chevy bel air project. When I go to your website and enter qp1200 it overrides with qp1000. Are the qp1200 no longer available? or are they not right for my application?

    Dec 14, 2016, 13:31

The QP1200 is not the correct header, and has been discontinued. The QP1000 would be one header option for your '57, as long as the cylinder heads used are factory-style GM straight plug heads, and are not based on the Vortec design or utilize non-standard port shapes. If any of those descriptions are true, a tube-style header is required for the application.

I have the QP1000 headers, do I need to use gaskets with them and if so what kind?

    Jul 11, 2016, 10:22

You can use gaskets on the QP1000 if you wish. However, just a bead of silicone around the ports will suffice.

I purchased a 1969 Corvette with rebuilt 350 and what was listed as Sanderson ceramic coated manifolds.. They appear to look like the Q1000 Cast Series Block Chevy header Set on your web site. The problem is that both straight and angleplug wires have melted due to excessive heat. Your suggestions?

    Jul 11, 2016, 10:25

If the plug wires are melting, it could be related to a few issues. 1) The cylinder heads are not compatible with the headers. This may occur with angle plug heads, Vortec, and others that are not compatible with the QP1000. 2) The engine is running too rich or too lean, creating an increase in exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs). Double-check the engine tune to ensure it is operating efficiently by using a 4 or 5-gas analyzer and measuring the CO% in the exhaust. 3) Plug wires that are not durable or may require heat sleeves.

Will these headers work if I am using the original generator and steering pump on my 1955/265 chevy belair with a tremec 5 speed? If not can you tell me which ones if any that would work..thanks

    May 3, 2016, 23:05

Any time headers are installed on a classic vehicle, there is a possibility that any accessory or accessory bracket that utilizes a header bolt (or bolts) will need to be modified to accommodate the installation.

What is the diffrance in vortec heads and orther gm heads.
I have a 350 330 ho crate engine it has vortec heads. Your cast iron qp1000 headers have the
Right demision just wondering why they won't fit.

    May 2, 2016, 18:07

The measurement between the center two spark plugs. The center-to-center spark plug spacing on standard cylinder heads is 4.5" and on Vortec design cylinder heads this is just 4.0". There is not enough material available on the QP1000 to remove for adequate spark plug clearance without damaging the integrity and lifespan of the cast series header. On "most" of our tube style headers we are able to dimple the tubes to provide clearance.

When sitting in driver's seat and engine in front of you, the LEFT header would be the Driver's Side on LH drive vehicles; coincidently, means the RIGHT header is on the passenger side. See the detail image above left that describes engine sides.

Sanderson Street Rod Headers strives to supply our customers with the highest quality parts and service available in the street rod industry. In keeping with this, we warrant and will repair or replace, at our option after inspection in our facility, any of our products which are found by us to have failed due to defects in either material or workmanship.  This warranty is activated by the return of the Warranty Card enclosed with every pair of headers, and is effective for FIVE YEARS * from the date of purchase as indicated on the original invoice.

This Warranty does not cover products that fail due to improper motor tuning, alteration, disassembly, or damage caused by racing, misuse, neglect, abuse, improper installation and/or accident, or when used on applications for which they were not designed or approved. We are specifically not responsible for the costs of removal, installation, transportation, destruction of other components, inconvenience, loss of time, or other personal damages, or for any other associated costs including the application of aftermarket coatings applied by others. Sanderson Street Rod headers shall not be liable for any and all consequential damages occasioned by the breach of any written or implied warranty pertaining to this sale in excess of the purchase price of the product(s) as found on the original invoice.

* Extremely compact header designs which locate the collector in close proximity to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason, part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year Warranty period only. All other Warranty conditions apply.
