Sanderson's  patented flange design requires no gasketsThe FH3 is a three-tube Ford Flathead V8 header designed to fit 1931-53 cars and trucks. The FH3 is fits all 21 and 24-stud flatheads in vehicles that do not have steering components under the center of the motor. The FH3 fits all 1931-53 flathead trucks using stock steering.

Comes with all hardware necessary for installation.

    F H header fit 1950 ford with stock steering

    1950 Ford what? If this is a '50 Ford truck, yes. If this is a '50 Ford car, the FH1 is the correct header.

    Does your FH3 come in Stainless Steel I could swore saw them in SS with your name on the tag.

    We use heavy gauge mild steel for all of our headers. Not stainless.

    just want to confirm that the FH3 headers will fit a 1948 F1 truck with 49/53 engine and stock steering. Is there a problem with the standard dip stick installation?

    Yes, the FH3 is the correct header set. I don't recall a dipstick issue, but it is possible with many header installations.

    I found the Lokar Flexible Dipstick ED-5016, for flathead motors not to be a good match up with Sanderson Headers. In order to use this dipstick, I will need to notch out the flange between the 1st and 2nd port. I could do this and weld a half round into this area. The flexible dipstick will fit through the 1st pipe and the flange but the dipstick tube will be at too sharp an angle to place the dipstick into the dipstick tube and the tube will be resting on the header tube and over heat.

    If the flexable tube is placed behind the flange then the header will not properly tighten to torque with out distorting and the tube would be directly pinched between the block and flange leaving a gap between the port and the header.

    If Sanderson could machine a notch into the flange for the dip stick, the flexable dipstick would not be needed and we could keep the original tube and dipstick in place. If Sanderson did this, the warranty would not be voided and the headache would go away.


    Has this been mentioned already or am I off track? What else can be done with this setup?

    If the flexible Lokar dipstick will not work, the only other option is to bend a factory-style tube to fit the application. The choice between a factory-style and the Lokar flexible is simply personal preference. Our customers have installed both styles without issues. The Lokar is by far the preferred choice, and it is our understanding the the ONLY fit issue with the ED-5016 relates to the Fenton header for Flathead engines.

    Do you also sell a replacement oil dip stick tube for the FH3 header application?

    No. Check out Lokar Performance Products. Lokar offers flexible dipstick replacements that work great with most header applications.

When sitting in driver's seat and engine in front of you, the LEFT header would be the Driver's Side on LH drive vehicles; coincidently, means the RIGHT header is on the passenger side. See the detail image above left that describes engine sides.

Limited 5 Year General Warranty

Sanderson Street Rod Headers strives to supply our customers with the highest quality parts and service available in the street rod industry. In keeping with this, we warrant and will repair or replace, at our option after inspection in our facility, any of our products which are found by us to have failed due to defects in either material or workmanship.  This warranty is activated by the return of the Warranty Card enclosed with every pair of headers, and is effective for FIVE YEARS * from the date of purchase as indicated on the original invoice.

This Warranty does not cover products that fail due to improper motor tuning, alteration, disassembly, or damage caused by racing, misuse, neglect, abuse, improper installation and/or accident, or when used on applications for which they were not designed or approved. We are specifically not responsible for the costs of removal, installation, transportation, destruction of other components, inconvenience, loss of time, or other personal damages, or for any other associated costs including the application of aftermarket coatings applied by others. Sanderson Street Rod headers shall not be liable for any and all consequential damages occasioned by the breach of any written or implied warranty pertaining to this sale in excess of the purchase price of the product(s) as found on the original invoice.

* Extremely compact header designs which locate the collector in close proximity to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason, part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year Warranty period only. All other Warranty conditions apply.
