Will these headers fit 8-bolt C6AE-6090-R heads? I have heard conflicting opinions as to which headers will fit these heads. Thank you!

1976 F250 FE 428, with Edelbrock Performer RPM heads part # 60069. The heads have 16 bolt cobra jet exhaust bolt pattern. Will these headers work?

Yes, please note the drop down selector for "Cylinder Head Type"? Select "CJ" heads.. With that selected the headers will be provided with the 16-bolt flange that works on the CJ, GT, and other aftermarket heads that have the additional bolt holes. Although the standard 2-bolt per port flange will work, most still opt for the CJ flange if their heads include the additional bolt holes.

Will the flange on the FF427 heads work with the higher exhaust port like a stock C1AE/C4/R heads or aftermarket heads like Edelbrock that also use the higher exhaust port. Or will these only work with low riser heads like D2 truck heads?

1967 Mercury F110 4x4 short box (115 inch wheel base), 352 CID FE V8 , rear sump oil pan, dipstick entry between #6 and #7 cylinders, C6 Automatic direct to NP 205 transfer case, Top entry Dana 44 front diff, thus drive shaft is high up. Headers must bend in toward centre and just skirt rear sump oil pan to avoid front drive shaft. Engine has after market Edelbrock heads. ASIDE FROM THE HEADS, THIS TRUCK IS A COMPLETE UNALTERED ORIGINAL. DO YOU HAVE HEADERS TO FIT THIS MODEL?

The Mercury M-series trucks are still basically an F-series, and the 352 engine is the common FE. Therefore, the FF427 is the correct header set.

I have a 1968 F100 2WD Long bed with a freshly rebuilt 360 and am in the midst of a frame off restoration. I'm looking for good shorty headers to increase performance. I have a 1974 motor and the original 1968 Bendix steering gear. I'm concerned about two things. Will the FF427 fit with the Bendix gear and will I have heat or fitment issues with the stock starter? I've read a lot of conflicting information and am just looking for some clarification.

The FF427 is the correct header. I believe if our responses have been read regarding these questions, the answers have already been provided.

In the event the header does not clear the starter---the vehicle is not using the correct starter, PERIOD! If that occurs, the best option is a mini-starter for a variety of reasons. However, the FF427 was originally designed using the proper factory starter. Because Ford offered dozens of starters for F-series trucks (and cars), many intermixed over the years. These starters came in different diameters, different lengths, and other variations that although "may" work perfectly with factory manifolds on most applications can easily cause clearance issues when installing headers.

Regarding the steering gear clearance, in all of the years this header set has been available there have been less than a dozen applications that have required a different driver side header. It is not an issue with the steering gear itself on these "odd" trucks. It is a combination of model year, frame, axle, steering gear, chassis, and Ford's decision to combine these together on a very small number of trucks. Considering both how many F-series trucks with the FE engine Ford built and the thousands of FF427 header sets in service, that is a very small oddity and nothing to be concerned with unless problems are found when fitting the header on the truck. Just because someone ( or a few) claims on a web forum that many (or every) header of a particular configuration requires a different driver side header does not mean it's true. The facts are quite different.

DIMENSIONS:

When sitting in driver's seat and engine in front of you, the LEFT header would be the Driver's Side on LH drive vehicles; coincidently, means the RIGHT header is on the passenger side. See the detail image above left that describes engine sides.

1953-Up Ford F100, F-Series Trucks Stock

Engine Applications:

  • Ford 332-428 FE

We offer a variation of the FF427 header set (part #FF427CS) for "specific" Ford Camper Special F-Series pickups using the Ford FE (332-428) engine.

The FF427CS combines the standard FF427 passenger side header with the FF393 driver side header to compensate for the narrow frame rails and larger steering gear that appears on "some" Camper Special trucks.

NOTES:

  • The designation "Camper Special" does not mandate the use of the FF427CS header set
  • All Camper Special trucks are not the same
  • Not all Camper Special trucks require the FF427CS header set. In most instances the standard FF427 fits perfectly
  • The need for the FF427CS header set is not consistent across model years or the "Camper Special" designation
  • If the truck uses a much larger Bendix steering gear, the FF427CS is the correct choice

Starter:

If your application has the larger Ford "coffee can" starter (common on convertibles but found on other applications as well), or other larger or incompatibly clocked starter you will need to change to a normal size or preferrably a mini-starter.

The Powermaster mini starters are recommended replacements.

GENERAL NOTES:

  1. The Patented Leak-Free Design that Sanderson Headers offer you is the only leak-free flange design on the market ... Do Not Attempt To Use Flange Gaskets! The raised flange on the Sanderson Headers will buckle the gasket during tightening and actually cause a leak!
  2. Sanderson Headers are NOT emissions legal on pollution-controlled motor vehicles. It is the purchaser's responsibility to verify local regulations for compliance.
  3. Wrapping your Sanderson Headers with ANY thermal tape voids your header warranty. The best thermal protection for your headers is our Aluminized Ceramic Coating that is available for every Sanderson Header.

Limited 5 Year General Warranty

Sanderson Street Rod Headers strives to supply our customers with the highest quality parts and service available in the street rod industry. In keeping with this, we warrant and will repair or replace, at our option after inspection in our facility, any of our products which are found by us to have failed due to defects in either material or workmanship.  This warranty is activated by the return of the Warranty Card enclosed with every pair of headers, and is effective for FIVE YEARS * from the date of purchase as indicated on the original invoice.

This Warranty does not cover products that fail due to improper motor tuning, alteration, disassembly, or damage caused by racing, misuse, neglect, abuse, improper installation and/or accident, or when used on applications for which they were not designed or approved. We are specifically not responsible for the costs of removal, installation, transportation, destruction of other components, inconvenience, loss of time, or other personal damages, or for any other associated costs including the application of aftermarket coatings applied by others. Sanderson Street Rod headers shall not be liable for any and all consequential damages occasioned by the breach of any written or implied warranty pertaining to this sale in excess of the purchase price of the product(s) as found on the original invoice.

WRAPPING HEADERS WITH THERMAL TAPE VOIDS WARRANTY.

* Extremely compact header designs which locate the collector in close proximity to the exhaust ports are very sensitive to engine tuning. Improper air/fuel mix or timing of ignition and/or valvetrain can cause early failure due to excessive heat. For this reason, part numbers CC2 and CC3 are offered with a two-year Warranty period only. All other Warranty conditions apply.
